Cocktail party & Jam Session for Art Kane

On Thursday 25th June 2015 from 7pm onwards, a great exhibition opening event will be staged, thanks to the collaboration with ‘Off Modena’ and the ‘Stòff’ cultural association.
At Palazzo Santa Margherita, in Corso Canalgrande 103, the band Cocco & Pip Carter Lighter Maker will perform a live show entirely dedicated to the groups and musical themes that emerge from many of the works on show, from the Rolling Stones to Bob Dylan, the Doors, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, as well as Frank Zappa, the Cream, Sonny & Cher, Aretha Franklin, Louis Armstrong, Lester Young, right up to the Who. Music will thus accompany the visitors, who will also be able to make use of the cocktail space, again offered by the Stòff Association.

The Pip Carter Lighter Maker, featuring Davide “Cocco” Cocconcelli, lead singer of the Smokers and La Lama, draw inspiration from the Kinks, Pink Floyd among others, and all of Swinging London from the mid-60s onwards. Having supported groups such as Marlene Kuntz, Rooney, Giovanardi of La Crus in Italy, and a well-established band in the Italian underground panorama, the group has numerous albums to its name, tours, and recently signed a contract with the Hey Man Records label and with La Barberia Records. Psychedelic beat rock, midway between L.A. and Swinging London.

On Thursday 23rd April 2015 at 6pm, at Palazzo Santa Margherita, the well-known photographer Claude Nori will present “Stromboli” (published by Contrejour, 2015), a photo book produced in the wake of a journey that the artist made between 1989 and 1990.
Inspired by the unbridled passion that exploded there at the end of the 1940s between Roberto Rossellini and the Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman, Nori went to seek out the elements of its inspiration in the landscapes and colours of the island.

“The first time I boarded the boat for Stromboli – he writes – I was filled with wonder like a child thumbing through the pages of an album in search of his favourite characters.”

The entrance is free.

On dry land at last, the sailors get drunk at the inn. When they come out, they wander randomly; we do not know where each of them will end up.The explanation of Brownian motion (Einstein, 1905) teaches us to foresee how the crew will scatter over time (supposing that the crew is fairly numerous). The model was produced by students of the Laura Bassi High School in Bologna.

In the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, Giotto painted 40 stories in his frescos. My idea was to remove the entire image from each of these scenes except the golden aureoles that he placed around the heads of his figures. Without an explanatory support, the references to the original image are impossible to grasp. On seeing these sheets, one might think of anything but their true origins. (Francesco Carone).

The exhibition, in collaboration with Galleria civica di Modena, features a volume, published by blisterZine as a handmade single copy, reminiscent of an old celestial atlas printed in a single colour: gold. It features 40 images with the outlines of the golden circles. The discs, laid out on the sheets in an apparently random fashion, are reminiscent of constellations or planetary systems.

The research carried out by Francesco Carone (Siena 1975) starts out from a personal reinterpretation of the universe that surrounds him through which he produces projects and works, but also books and objects.
Founder and curator of the project TEMPOZULU, with which for many years he has invited artists and other figures from Italian and international culture to leave a permanent contribution on the paving stones of the streets of Siena. Creator of the project USB gallery, since 2012 he has been among the organisers of the artists’ residence project Made in Filandia. His works may be found in major private and public collections.

Pinacoteca comunale, Città di Castello
23 August-16 November 2014

From the late forties to the early sixties, in the area of Informal Art, Carla Accardi, Afro, Vasco Bendini, Annibale Biglione, Alberto Burri, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Mino Ceretti, Piero Dorazio, Lucio Fontana, Pinot Gallizio, Bice Lazzari, Leoncillo, Mario Nanni, Gastone Novelli, Cesare Peverelli, Concetto Pozzati, Bepi Romagnoni, Antonio Sanfilippo, Emilio Scanavino, Tancredi, Claudio Verna and Giuseppe Zigaina were among the protagonists of
a various, intellectual adventure. Traces of this can clearly be seen on the precious sheets held in the Galleria Civica di Modena’s own Collection. The folds, marks and the general wear and tear all contribute to a story that is being told to this day.
These artistic testimonies may now be seen in the exhibition “SEGNO FORMA GESTO”, on display until 16th November at the Pinoteca Comunale (Town Picture Gallery) of Città di Castello, curated by the director fo the Galleria Civica di Modena, Marco Pierini, with technical and operational support from Atlante Servizi Culturali, in collaboration with the Burri Foundation and the support of Città di Castello Town Council, as well as the Palazzo Vitelli Association at St. Egidio.

Through more than 70 works, the exhibition traces the great artistic and cultural renewal process which took place in various different countries and continents throughout the ’50s and ’60s.

Here at its third event, the Talk | Show cycle of meetings, curated by LaRete Art Projects, focuses on the theme of the online dimension and that of collaboration across the global network.

Together with the use of video, the presentation of case studies from both Italian and international research, and the sharing of a specific bibliography, LaRete with Talk | Show seeks to share a form of dialogue with the audience, with a debate opening onto some of the most radical fronts of contemporary artistic research.
